Which financial changes should it explain?

Compare actuals with the previous period or budget, trace the biggest changes and draft a short explanation with evidence.

One account review includes up to 1,000 transaction rows and 20 supporting notes.

Your finance team approves explanations. No automatic ledger changes, published financial statements or unsupported claims about business causes.

What is included

Map accounts, compare periods, identify material transaction groups and draft explanations with evidence and unresolved questions.

Start with structured exports for a single entity and currency, agreed account mappings and materiality rules. Calculate totals before asking AI to explain them. The connected option reads your ledger; it does not edit it.

How well should each explanation be supported?

Good explanations reconcile the numbers and show their evidence. They do not turn guesses about the business into facts.

How these standards are measured

Test on held-out account-periods. Check whether material drivers are found and whether each factual claim is supported by the linked evidence. Wrong totals, missing residuals and invented business causes fail; unanswered questions stay visible.

Targets for your selected standard
What is checkedTarget
Supported factual claimsSupported factual claims divided by all emitted factual claims, judged against source evidence. Empty explanations also fail the driver-coverage test.≥98%
Material drivers foundCorrectly identified material driver groups divided by all finance-labelled groups under the agreed threshold. Missing or deferred groups stay in the denominator.≥95%
Correct variance totalsAll issued reviews reproduce source-period totals and show a bridge from the comparison balance to the actual balance, including any unexplained residual.≥100%
Complete source linksEvery driver row retains original transaction IDs, period and mapping versions; every business-cause claim also links to approved context.≥100%

Use deterministic decimal calculations for balances, signs and residuals. A transaction pattern is not proof of a business cause; ask for supporting context.

How quickly do you need the explanation?

Choose how quickly an account review should be ready. Time spent confirming business reasons is separate.

Timing details

Time from complete inputs to a stored explanation, including data validation, deterministic aggregation, queueing and retries. Agree the row and source-note limits with your provider.

The target applies to at least 95% of agreed test runs, with 2 in progress at a time.

How much do you want to spend per account review?

Choose the machine budget for finding drivers, checking source notes and drafting the explanation.

Cost details

Includes model calls, retries and shared hosting. Finance review, ledger subscriptions, source preparation and the calling agent are separate.

Reference machine cost: $0.23 – 0.63 per account review at 100 account reviews a month. The selected cap is a target to test, not a replacement for this estimate.

Where do you want it to run?

Run in your cloud or on your own server. Choose whether approved financial extracts can go to an external AI model.

Data and access details

Runs in a cloud account you control, with access controls and logs.

Only approved source fields go to the selected external model. Agree access and retention first.

Keep payroll and customer details masked where possible. No external calls uses file exports and private inference, without a live ledger connection.

How do you want to use it?

Use a review web page, your existing AI agent or a dedicated finance-review agent.

Anything else your provider should know?

Optional. Your choices are included automatically.

Common questions

When is a reporting subscription enough?

Use one when standard actual-versus-budget reports and commentary cover your review. Buy a workflow when you need custom transaction evidence, account rules or approval steps in your environment.

Can it explain why a cost increased?

It can identify the transactions behind the increase. It should only state a business reason when approved context supports it; otherwise it asks your team.

Does it replace our controller's review?

No. Your team checks the calculations and explanations, adds business context and approves anything used in management or external reporting.

Can it cover more entities or currencies?

Yes, as agreed additional scope. Consolidation, currency translation and intercompany eliminations need their own rules and tests.
