Which photos should it prepare?

Remove backgrounds, apply consistent framing and export the sizes your store needs.

One photo includes up to 1 source image and 3 output sizes and 5 megapixels maximum input.

Review edited photos before publishing. Never replace store images automatically or invent product features.

What is included

Apply an approved background and shadow preset, preserve the product and create the agreed output sizes from the same edited master.

Start with clear product photos and approved white or solid backgrounds. Keep the original product pixels wherever possible. Resize the edited master locally; new scenes, virtual models and video are separate work.

How closely should it preserve the product?

A polished image is not enough if the product is wrong. Check preserved details, usable cutouts and correct exports.

How these standards are measured

Use held-out products with approved reference masks and an agreed visual checklist. Include transparent, reflective, fine-edged and labelled items. Missing output counts as failure; invented or removed product details block release.

Targets for your selected standard
What is checkedTarget
Product details preservedCount every submitted source photo. Compare product shape, color, text and visible features against the source under a buyer-approved checklist; missing outputs fail.≥98%
Usable cutoutsUse annotated reference masks and buyer-agreed edge tolerances. Report each product type separately; missing outputs and incorrect transparent regions fail.≥95%
Correct export filesValidate every required file for format, dimensions, padding and naming against the agreed store rules; absent exports fail.≥100%
Correct product linksEvery output retains the right product ID, source hash and editing preset. A wrong product association blocks release.≥100%

Keep the original beside every edit. No automatic store publishing; reject invented features or missing product parts, even when aggregate targets pass.

How quickly should each photo be ready?

Choose the time from upload to edited images ready for review.

Timing details

Include image validation, queueing, API processing, resizing and storage at the declared workload. Human approval is separate; test on the agreed hardware and image service.

The target applies to at least 95% of agreed test runs, with 2 in progress at a time.

How much do you want to spend per photo?

Choose the machine budget for editing a source photo and exporting its sizes.

Cost details

The reference uses a successful image edit plus local resizing and shared hosting. Successful re-generations cost extra, even if you reject the result. API minimum spend and human review still apply.

Reference machine cost: $0.12 – 0.16 per photo at 1000 photos a month. The selected cap is a target to test, not a replacement for this estimate.

Where do you want it to run?

Run the workflow in your cloud or on your own server. Choose whether product images may use an approved image API.

Data and access details

Runs in a cloud account you control, with access controls and logs.

Use an approved image-editing API for the supplied product photo. Agree image retention and permissions before sending it.

The API option keeps the orchestration in your environment, not the image model. Private processing uses separately licensed local models and file inputs; measure its quality, hardware and running cost.

How do you want to use it?

Review images on a web page or ask your agent to prepare them. Choose the interfaces you need.

Anything else your provider should know?

Optional. Your choices are included automatically.

Common questions

Why not just use Photoroom?

Use its app if it already handles your editing and batch exports. Buy a workflow when you need your own source connections, product checks, review steps or agent interface.

Will it create new product scenes or models?

Not in this guide's baseline. It prepares existing photos with clean backgrounds, framing and shadows. Agree new scenes, virtual models or video separately.

Does every image become ready to publish?

No. Transparent edges, packaging text and unusual materials can still need correction. Your team reviews the actual product details before publishing.

Can I avoid external image services?

Choose private processing and use appropriately licensed local models. Validate the same quality targets and measure hardware cost before accepting the workflow.

What if I regenerate a photo?

A new successful API edit can be another paid call. The baseline covers the first edit, not unlimited revisions; measure the cost per accepted photo in your pilot.
