Batch-update fields in PDF templates using Python

Project brief

A small command-line utility for PDFs that share one layout. It should take replacement dates, document numbers and names from a JSON or CSV file, process an input folder, and save separate output files.

The important part is keeping the surrounding typography and artwork intact. Use Python 3 with PyMuPDF or another library you can justify. Log missing fields and unreadable files instead of silently skipping them. This is for authorised template updates; sample PDFs and replacement values will be agreed before work begins.

Deliverables & acceptance

What you'll deliver

  • Script, requirements.txt, README and results from two sample PDFs.

What the result must meet

  • Configured fields change correctly in both test files; other text, images and layout remain unchanged.
  • Originals are untouched; an unmatched field produces a clear warning.
