When does a buyer pay for a task?

The buyer pays after both parties have agreed the task terms and before funded work begins.

Before payment, RenX shows the agreed task price and currency. The buyer reviews the final applicable tax and total in Stripe Checkout and confirms payment and any required business or tax information. A supported local-currency option may also be offered at checkout. Publishing a task, applying, discussing a proposal, or agreeing a draft does not itself charge the buyer.

Marketplace purchases must be for business or professional use. A sole trader or freelancer may buy as an individual for that purpose. The actual purpose matters; an account label or tax number alone does not determine consumer rights.

Stripe processes the payment. RenX records the task as funded only after the payment is confirmed. A temporary card authorisation, a pending provider result, or a payment-failure notice is not a completed payment, and the service provider should not begin funded work until RenX confirms funding.

If you use hiring credit, Checkout collects the cash portion and RenX reserves the credit. The platform funds its credit contribution only after work is accepted. The provider fee is calculated on the full project price; using credit does not reduce that calculation or cause a second commission charge at acceptance.
