What happens if a buyer cancels funded work?

A buyer can request cancellation while the work is still eligible for cancellation. RenX shows the proposed refund and any deduction before the buyer confirms the request.

For a verified business purchase, where both parties agree that the provider keeps no service payment, no payout has been sent and no chargeback is in progress, a lawful cancellation deduction may include actual, non-refundable costs connected to that cancellation, the disclosed minimum platform fee and applicable tax. The deduction cannot exceed the amount legally available for deduction, cannot create a negative refund, and cannot be charged twice. The service provider may accept the request or dispute the proposed outcome.

The buyer pays the approved cancellation charge to the service provider through the settlement; the provider pays the minimum platform cancellation fee to RenX. RenX adjusts the original commission and tax instead of also retaining the full 15% commission, and does not charge 15% on the cancellation charge. The quote identifies the applicable tax on each charge separately.

Only lawful, previously disclosed and agreed deductions supported by evidence are allowed. Uncovered seller obligations remain with the seller; RenX’s own costs remain with RenX. If the provider keeps payment for part of the work, use the partial-settlement process, not this no-remuneration cancellation calculation.

Consumer purchases are reviewed separately from the business cancellation calculation. See UK and EU consumer rights for examples; mandatory rights in other jurisdictions also apply. RenX does not use the business calculation to reduce a refund where the law or a valid promise requires the original payment to be returned in full.

The refund is complete only after the payment provider confirms it. The time it takes to appear depends on the buyer’s payment method.
