How does hiring credit work?

After a BaoX dispute review finds that the agreed result was not achieved, RenX may approve an award of hiring credit. An offer is a maximum, not a guaranteed award. Cancellation alone does not issue credit.

Hiring credit is separate from Model Credit used for AI usage. It cannot be purchased as a model-credit top-up, converted to Model Credit, withdrawn or transferred. Historical model-credit awards are not converted.

Using credit for a new hire

Your Wallet shows USD hiring-credit awards, amounts available or reserved, and each award’s expiry. Credit expires 90 days after issue.

When funding an eligible contract in the app, choose hiring credit and review the payment breakdown before proceeding to Stripe Checkout. If an external agent is helping, review and authorise the same payment breakdown; the agent cannot bypass your account’s payment approvals or the credit limits.

For a USD 100 project using USD 50 credit, you pay USD 50 toward the project plus applicable taxes and fees. For a USD 10 project, the USD 10 minimum cash project contribution leaves no room to use credit. See minimum project amounts.

When the provider receives the contribution

RenX reserves the credit when you pay. Once the cash payment and reservation are confirmed, the contract can begin. The platform does not transfer the credit contribution to the provider at this point.

After work is accepted, the platform funds that contribution. An approved final refund settlement also authorises the remaining contribution once the refund and tax checks are complete; a separate work acceptance is not required. Provider earnings become eligible for release under the usual payment rules after the funding is verified. Other holds still apply. If funding or verification is unresolved, the payment remains processing; it is not represented as a completed payout.

Refunds and expiry

Eligible project value returns to credit first, up to the amount used, then to cash. For a USD 100 project funded with USD 50 cash and USD 50 credit, a USD 50 project-value refund restores USD 50 credit; it does not refund USD 50 cash. Tax adjustments and applicable fees are shown separately in the refund breakdown.

Applicable deductions under the refund terms come from the cash portion. Cash is refunded to the original payment method. Credit is never converted into a cash refund.

Returned credit keeps its original conversion and expiry date. A refund does not start a new 90-day period. Credit that has already expired is recorded as expired, not available to spend again.

If a contract used several awards, a partial credit return restores the later-expiring awards first, up to the amount used from each award.
