What is the Stripe Tax fee?

The tax on a task and the Stripe Tax fee are different. Tax on the task is part of the amount a buyer pays when tax is due; RenX shows it before payment. The Stripe Tax fee is what Stripe may charge an account for calculating and recording that tax. RenX does not add a separate Stripe Tax service fee to the buyer’s bill.

For normally completed work, if Stripe charges the seller’s connected payment account for tax calculation on the task, the actual fee reduces the seller’s proceeds. It is separate from the RenX service-provider fee and from Stripe’s payment-processing fee. The amount depends on the account’s Stripe Tax plan and the transaction; there is no single RenX-wide rate. If Stripe has not yet confirmed the cost, RenX does not treat an estimate of zero as the final charge.

RenX pays the Stripe Tax cost of calculating tax on RenX’s own platform fee. That cost is not passed to the seller. Any tax actually added to the RenX fee is a separate item governed by the tax-on-fees guide.

See Stripe’s Tax pricing for published plans and your financial records for charges reported on your transaction. For tax on the task itself, see how Marketplace taxes work.
